This is an interesting function that helps you to restore old versions of articles.

Normally, we often return to the content we just edited with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Z, but Ctrl + Z only works in the current working session, and if you have pressed Save Draft, it will not work. undo the content before clicking Save Draft again.

The revision fixes this issue. By default, it saves 10 different versions of the article and you can choose which version to restore.

In the top right area, look where it says Manuscript:

The number immediately following the manuscript is the version number of the article currently in storage (7 versions in the figure). Next to the link from Review, click here to see older versions of the article.

The interface appears as below:

You click the Previous button to see the previous version of the article (you can drag the slider instead of clicking the button, each dash is a version). Press it once and it will revert to the previous version. And on the right hand side will appear the corresponding version content:

If the content on the right hand side is exactly what you want to restore, click the Restore This Draft button.

Comparison feature between any 2 manuscripts

In case you are not sure which version you want to restore, you can do a comparison between the 2 versions.

To do that, do the following. First, click “Compare any 2 manuscripts”.

Then you drag the 2 buttons below, the right button is the version you want to restore (corresponding to the right content), and the left button is the older version you want to compare (corresponding to the right content). ). in the left column):

Next, you drag your mouse down below, the content highlighted in blue is the difference between the 2 versions:

P/S: While revision is an important feature, it is also one of the main causes of WordPress database bloat, especially on pages with many articles, many years old. And one of the important tasks of any database optimization for WordPress is this: getting rid of revisions that are no longer useful.
